Interest based advertising
Interest based advertising is the name given to this type of internet-user focused advertising on the Google Display Network. With a high enough visitor volume, a profile can be created of your target audience. The analysis looks at previously visited websites and which interest profiles correspond with the behavior.
Instead of aiming your banner campaign at specific websites, you now aim at the visitor profile of those exact same websites. Your display advertising campaign is then presented only to those visitors within the Google Display Network who fit the selected interest profiles.
Audience targeting operates in almost the same way that interest based advertising does; anonymous demographic and interest profiles of website visitors are collected and associated with a purchase intent.
For instance, you can purchase 500,000 profiles of internet users with a relevant, active interest in traveling. Your display advertising campaign is then further enhanced using these profiles as a data set. Your banner campaigns are subsequently only shown to the 500,000 internet users whose anonymous interest profiles you have specifically targeted.
The costs for audience targeting are based on a fee per 1000 profiles. Audience targeting is available for, among others, the automotive, travel, finance and home & living segments.
